The 925 silver Crotalia earrings with Vesuvius Lava Stone are an elegant tribute to the jewelry of ancient Pompeii. The original earrings were found in the villa of Oplontis and Stabiae, and today they are kept at the Archaeological Museum of Naples. 

The ancient earrings Crotalia  had the pendant made up of two or three pearls that produced a pleasant tinkling by striking each other. This tThis type of accessory was very common, as evidenced by a Fayum portrait.

Historical Curiosities 

In ancient Rome, crotalia earrings were worn by women of high rank. Their name comes from the sound produced by the pendants, similar to the tinkling of small bells, considered a good omen. These earrings were often decorated with pearls and precious stones and reflected the taste for luxury and refinement of the time.
