Discover the marble reproduction of Cupid and Psyche, inspired by the famous statue by Canova, kept in the Louvre Museum in Paris. This sculpture represents the god Cupid kissing the mortal Psyche, in one of the most famous love stories in mythology.
Psyche, a beautiful young woman unable to find a husband, attracts neighboring peoples who offer her sacrifices and call her Venus (or Aphrodite). Jealous of the name given to Psyche, the goddess sends her son Cupid (or Eros, Love) to make her fall in love with the ugliest and most miserly man on Earth, so that the relationship will bring her shame. Cupid misses his aim, however, and the arrow of love strikes his own foot, making him fall deeply in love with her.
In this beautiful sculpture the god Love (Cupid) kisses the mortal Psyche in one of the greatest stories of love and passion.
